This Readymade sculpture is a typical sight within the artist's bedroom and a familiar visual that represents a person struggling within modern life due to contextual factors such as fatigue, work and stress.
This particular interpretation counts as a portrait representing a frustrated student during the CoronaVirus Pandemic. During the time period, the image of clothes stacked upon each other on top of an object is commonly referred to as ‘The Chair.’However in this work, 'The Chair' is in the form of a suitcase, containing the student's clothes ready to be taken back to University.
The Clothes displayed crumpled on top of each other consist of disregarded items of clothing that have been worn repeatedly, waiting to be worn again, displaying the constant repetition and Groundhog day experience in National Lockdown. The Readymade is described as ever-changing in nature, the pile increases and decreases depending on the student's productivity, self-esteem and levels of serotonin.
